Maintaining updated themes and plugins is crucial for maintaining website code security. Most changes are made to address security vulnerabilities, and users may require additional functionality. The theme can also leverage new WordPress elements to add additional functionality.

a) How to update your WordPress themes and plugins

Note: If your WordPress left side of the dashboard does not have an Updates button, that means you are using the themes and plugins latest version.

1. Log in to WordPress and select Updates on the menu on the left side of the dashboard.

2. Then you will see notifications for theme and plugin update options.

3. After that, click on the “Update Theme” button to update the theme and plugins.

4. Finally, it will download, unzip, and replace the old files with the new version of the theme and plugin package. If we manually apply custom code to a WordPress theme or plugin, these modifications will be lost.
