Redirecting Web Traffic: A Guide to URL Redirects in cPanel

The redirect interface enables you to redirect all visitors or traffic from a specific domain or web page to a new one such as when your website moves to a new domain and you want all visitors to be redirected.

a) How to create a Redirect in cPanel

1. Log into cPanel and navigate to the Domains section to select Redirects tool or search for the Redirects tool in the search bar.

2.Then, select the redirect type (permanent or temporary) from the drop-down menu.

3. After that, select the desired domain name from the domain list and enter the desired page path or folder to redirect.

4. Next, enter the full URL in the Redirect to text box and specify the protocol as http:// or https:// to redirect your domain to a specific page.

5. Then, select www.redirect; it will determine whether you want your domain name to be redirected to www and we recommend using Redirect with or without www. option.

Note:

  • Only redirect with www. : The redirection is only performed when the user enters “www.” in the URL.
  • Redirect with or without www. : The redirection is always completed, regardless of whether the user enters www or not, and regardless of whether the URL is included in the URL.
  • Do not redirect www. : The redirect will not function if the user enters “www” in the URL.

6. After that, if you want to redirect all files and folders in the subfolder to the same file or folder in the new domain, select the Wildcard Redirect checkbox.

7. Finally, click the Add button to save the settings.
