Installing WordPress with cPanel: A Step-by-Step Guide

WordPress is a popular content management software that can be installed directly on your website using the Softaculous Apps Installer. With over a million websites, it’s safe, secure, user-friendly, and customizable.

a) How to install WordPress using the Softaculous Apps Installer in cPanel

1. Log into cPanel and navigate to the Software section to select Softaculous Apps Installer tool or search for the Softaculous Apps Installer tool in the search bar.

2. Then, click on “Blog” in the left menu to find WordPress.

3. After that, click on the button and follow the instructions.

4. Next, the WordPress overview will be displayed and you can click the Install button to access the installer interface.

5. Then, it will provide some configuration and ask you to configure it:

  • Choose Protocol: Choose your WordPress website protocol, either http or https, with or without www. If https is chosen, an SSL certificate must be installed, which can be adjusted later in WordPress settings.
  • Choose Domain: WordPress can be installed on the root domain or any subdomain you create by selecting it from the drop-down menu.
  • In Directory: Choose the desired WordPress installation folder and leave the field blank if you want to install it on the root website.
  • Site Name: Name your website 
  • Site Description: Provide a brief description of your site.
  • Enable Multisite: It will install a WordPress web installation if checked.
  • Admin Username/Password: Enter your admin username and password, which will be required later to log into your admin panel.
  • Admin Ema: Enter the email address you wish to receive crucial WordPress notifications.
  • Select Language: Select the language of your WordPress installation.
  • Plugins: − It is optional, and you can choose to install these third-party plug-ins.
  • Database Name: − Specify a custom database name for your WordPress database, or leave this setting unchanged.
  • Table prefix: The table prefix can be specified for multiple installations, ensuring that all tables created will be preceded by this prefix.
  • Disable Update Notifications: You can choose not to receive update notifications in administrative emails by selecting this checkbox.
  • Upgrade Options: You can select to automatically upgrade your WordPress CMS, installed themes, or installed plugins by selecting the appropriate option.
  • Automatic Backups: The Softaculous app installer allows users to automatically generate WordPress backups, which can be rotated if selected.
  • Select Theme: Softaculous Apps Installer automatically installs a selected theme, or a clean WordPress installation is completed if no themes are selected.

 

6. Finally, click the Install button to install WordPress CMS on your website and if successful, you’ll receive links to the installation and admin panels.
