Enhancing Virtual Machine Reliability: Enabling Hyper-V Replica

Hyper-V Replication is a Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization feature that allows for the replication of a virtual machine from one Hyper-V host to another, thereby ensuring quick recovery from hardware failure, data corruption, or natural disasters.

a) How do I enable Hyper-V replication on the Hyper-V host ?

1. First, select the Hyper-V host, and then select Hyper-V Settings from the Actions pane of the Hyper-V Management Console.

2. Then, select replication Configuration in the left column.

3. After that, check to enable this computer as a replica server and use Kerberos (HTTP) for authentication options.

4. Next, keep the default port.

5. Then, select the Allow replication from any authenticated server option and adjust the default storage location for replica files in the Authorization and Storage section as needed.

6. Finally, confirm the informational message about the required firewall ports to be configured.
