How Do I Back Up My Site in cPanel

It’s crucial to have a backup plan of your own. You should always keep a current copy of your website, especially your database files, on your local computer so that you always have a backup in case any data is lost. The backup is really simple to execute.

The steps as below:

1. Log into cPanel (http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel) and click on Backups under Files group. cPanel offers various type of backup options which are Full Backup, System Backup and Partial Backups.

a) Full Backup

All of the files in your home directory, your MySQL databases, and your email forwarders and filters are included in a full backup. It is helpful when you want to transfer your account from another host to our server, which also utilizes cPanel, or when you want to restore the full account, including cPanel.

It can take a few hours, depending on the size of your account. Please execute the backup if your account is larger than 500MB after office peak hours.

Enter your email address just once (to alert you when the back up is complete).

1. Click ‘ Download a Full Account Backup’.

2. Click ‘Generate Backup’.

b) Account Backups

Moreover, the server creates a complete backup of the data itself and depending on when the server generates the backup, it might not be comprehensive or up to date.

c) Partial Backups

*NOTE: Please take note that Full Backups do not include a restore option.
