FAQs on SSL Certificate Renewal Processes and Procedures, Part 2

a) Why do I get the SSL certificate error message “Not Trusted” ?

SSL certificate

The web server may have an invalid or missing intermediate certificate, preventing a secure connection to the CA root of trust. To resolve this, obtain the correct intermediate files from your CA or SSL provider and install them on your server. You can find more information about the intermediate installation guide on the SSL website.

b) Why do I get the error message “The name of the security certificate does not match the name of the website” ?

SSL certificate

The error message may arise due to a common name mismatch in the certificate and URL, or the installed certificate may not cover the specific subdomain or domain name you search for, such as secure.example-site.com, which points to a server certificate only covering www.example-site.com.

c) Why does the page say “The page cannot be displayed” when I load the website via HTTPS ?

SSL certificate

The error’s exact cause is unclear, but a solution can be found by clicking the “Details” button in your browser. You can contact our technical support for any inquiries.

d) In order to deploy an SSL certificate, do I need to have a dedicated or static IP address ?

SSL certificate

Absolutely yes. To use SSL on your domain, you need a dedicated or static IP address. If you don’t have one, you can either contact our technical support to get one or pay a monthly IP fee.

e) I noticed that my certificate works fine in the web browser; however, visitors receive a security warning. What could cause this problem ?

SSL certificate

Incorrect or outdated intermediate certificates can cause issues for visitors, preventing them from connecting to the trusted root of the certificate authority. Once the correct intermediate certificate is installed, the chain of trust is established, preventing certificate errors. You can find more information about the intermediate installation guide on the SSL website.

Note: If the correct intermediaries are installed but security indicators like the green address bar, padlock, and HTTPS are absent, check the site configuration and ensure all content and images load over HTTPS.
