Domain TXT Record Verification: A Guide to Secure Authentication

To verify your domain ownership, add a TXT verification record to your domain host’s DNS records. When Google sees that this record exists, it confirms domain ownership and has no impact on your website or email, and your domain host maintains the DNS record.

a) How do I verify my domain with a TXT record ?

1. First, log in to the Google Admin console, obtain the verification code from Google Workspace, and click “Continue to verify domain using TXT records“. Then, look for the verification code in the setup tool and click “Copy“.

2. Then, navigate to the DNS records for your domain, which will depend on the hosting service you have subscribed to from us.

3. After that, add verification records by selecting TXT in record type, entering @ or leaving it blank in Name/Host/Alias. Your host may require you to input your domain name, like example.com, and your other DNS records may provide guidance on what to enter. 86400, or leaving the default value in Time to Live (TTL), and pasting the verification record from step 1 in Value/Answer/Destination and saving it.com, and your other DNS records may provide guidance on what to enter.

Note: Ignore warnings about changing DNS settings, as adding TXT records won’t harm your website or DNS settings.

4. Finally, log in to the Google Admin console, let Google Workspace check your verification code, click Continue, and then scroll to the bottom of the next page to click Verify My Domain.

Note: The registrar may take longer to issue a verification code, and if an error message appears, wait an hour and try again. In extreme cases, it may take up to 48 hours.

If your domain name is not hosted by us, please refer to the following step-by-step guide:

  1. Log in to your domain host account in a separate browser window or tab.
  2. Access your domain’s DNS records, which may be referred to as “DNS Management“, “Name Server Management“, “Control Panel“, or “Advanced Settings“.
  3. Select the option to add a new record.
