Combating Spam: A Guide to Apache SpamAssassin in cPanel

Apache Spamassassin is software in cPanel that prevents spam from reaching your mailbox. When enabled, it assigns a spam score to each message and you can choose to automatically delete spam based on the score. For example, a spam score of 5 or higher will automatically delete all spam messages.

a) How to enable or disable Apache Spamassassin in cPanel

1. Log into cPanel and navigate to the Email section to select Global Email Filters tool or search for the Global Email Filters tool in the search bar.

2. To enable Apache Spamassassin, click Enable Apache Spamassassin, and to disable it, click Disable Apache Spamassassin.

b) How to setup Spam Auto-Delete in cPanel

1. Log into cPanel and navigate to the Email section to select Global Email Filters tool or search for the Global Email Filters tool in the search bar.

2. Then, the filter option can be found in the Apache Spamassassin interface.

3. After that, select the spam score from a drop-down list between 1 and 10, with lower scores being more stringent and higher scores being more lenient. A 1 score filters most emails, while a 10 score allows more to pass through the filter.

4. Finally, click the Auto-Delete Spam button to enable automatic spam removal based on your chosen score.

5. To disable automatic spam deletion, click on the Disable Auto-Delete Spam button.
