Plesk DKIM Setup: A Comprehensive Activation Guide

DKIM for a domain adds a special header to emails, containing the encryption private key. The recipient mail server uses the public key to verify email authenticity, and emails without headers are considered inauthentic.

a) How do I enable DKIM in Plesk ?

1. First, go to Websites & Domains and click your domain name in the Mail tab to select mail settings.

2. Then, select the Use DKIM spam protection system to sign outgoing emails check box and click Apply.

The Plesk DNS server is used to enable DKIM for your domain, adding two records to its DNS zone, representing your domain name as example.com:

  • The default._domainkey.example.com contains the public portion of the generated key.
  • The _ domainkey.example.com has a DKIM policy that can be edited.

To add DNS records to an external DNS server, you must manually follow Plesk’s prompts, as Plesk cannot do so.

3. Finally, click “How to configure external DNS” to open a prompt. Copy the two DNS records and add them to your DNS server.
